Gosh the week passes so speedily at the moment now that time is now spent divided between greenhouses and sewing room.

It's very hard to ignore these until I finish the current quilt haha.

Seeing the bottom of the scrap bin

Woohoo, at long last.
5 quilts later the scrap bin has been totally emptied apart from some random 2in squares.

So this will be the final quilt to come from the 2013 scrap bins.

I've got a fair pile of pinks & blues to play around with, so hopefully we'll get a twin with co-ordinating pillows at least, we may even be able to stretch it to a queen because this is a sashed & boredered pattern. Tomorrow will tell when we get the cutting finished.

Teacher for a day

My youngest wanted to make a few more cushions/pillows for the sofa bed in her room, and she also wanted to try her hand at foundation piecing.

So, yesterday we had a Hit the scrap basket day & this is what she finished with.
They are all blocks from Vintage quilt revival.
On this one she had a play with colour value opposits

This next block is the same pattern as the one above, she just turned the quarter pieces 180 & pieced with the squares as center after my encouraging her to Do her own thing as pattern & instructions are only there as guidelines.

We both loved the pinwheel block & it wasn't lost on us that the multicoloured polka dot fabric was scrap from the baby quilt I made for her during the extra two weeks she kept us waiting for her appearance.

This star was her favourite & left her mommy very impressed, how well did she cope with those partial seams !

and another pinwheel, because she found them really fun to do.

So she's happy & has again taken the other sewing machine into her bedroom along with a bundle of white to construct her pillows. Love that all my daughters love to sew.
